Job Fair Registration

 Read and register for National Job Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Small Business Forum on Oct. 23.



Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. for the first public presentation. Those leaving from Don Mills Station should leave by subway by 9:30 a.m., get off at St Andrew Station, and walk over to the convention centre. For detailed directions and timings, see this map. You might wish to meet with a few classmates or schoolmates and go there together.

Welcome back from your summer break. Hope that all of you had great quality time with your families.

How to use the language effectively in any business context is something important that we all need to consider. Idioms and slang are part of effective communication.

Read the sentences below and do the following:

First, define all the underlined phrases.

Second, check with two of your peers to make sure that you have the right answer.

Third, divide yourself into small groups (2 or 3 max) and use these expressions in sentences of your own.

a. I’m still not clear on what you’re driving at. Do you mind if I sleep on it and we can talk it over again tomorrow?

b. I can’t understand these accounts at all. Would you try your hand at them? Perhaps you can throw some light on the situation?

Thursday's Field Trip

 In Canada, there is a big debate going on over the legalization of marijuana. People have very strong opinions. Some of you probably come from countries where marijuana use is more common than in Canada. Others may come from countries where you could go to jail for smoking marijuana. 

Resolution: Marijuana should be legalized across Canada.
